Holobiotics srl is an innovative start-up and spin-off of the University of Naples Federico II, born from the synergy between academic research and strategic market expertise. This unique combination allows the company to enter the global market with scientifically validated raw materials and a commercially oriented vision aimed at international growth.
Holobiotics develops extracts from plant cell cultures, plant stem cell cultures, algal and microbial cultures, all characterised by high beneficial activity demonstrated in university laboratories through in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experimental systems.
The products developed by Holobiotics are not only characterised for their beneficial activity on animal and human cell models, but are also rigorously tested to ensure their microbiological and toxicological safety — a commitment that reflects the company's dedication to scientific integrity and regulatory compliance.
The reference markets include cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, household and industrial cleaning, and agronomy — sectors in which Holobiotics aims to establish itself as a reliable and innovative supplier of bio-based active ingredients with demonstrable scientific value.

Researcher in General and Applied Hygiene (MED/42) at the Department of Biology, University of Naples Federico II since 2021. Her research focuses on environmental and sanitary hygiene monitoring, microbial biofilm characterisation, molecular microbiology techniques for metagenomic analysis, and metabolomic profiling of food matrices. She contributes actively to water and soil quality assessment through innovative microbiological approaches.
Dr. Flavia Cicotti combines a solid scientific background with over ten years of experience in marketing and sales. Her ability to build strong interpersonal relationships, together with a keen intuition for innovative product development, enables her to effectively characterise and position products in the global market. Her proactive approach and strategic vision make her one of the most dynamic assets of the Holobiotics team.

Professor Marco Guida serves as Chief Operating Officer of Holobiotics srl, bringing extensive experience in stakeholder relationship management. He focuses on establishing strategic partnerships with public and private institutions, leveraging his broad network to support business growth. His ability to navigate complex organisational structures and foster solid collaborations positions Holobiotics as a trusted partner in the biotechnology sector.
Associate Professor of General and Applied Hygiene (MED/42), Department of Biology, University of Naples Federico II (1987–2018). His research spans environmental microbiology, ecotoxicology, food safety and water quality management. He has coordinated national and international research projects and supervised over 500 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. He served as Director of the II-level Master's Programme in Food Hygiene and Technology at Federico II.
Ing. Francesco Paolo Tuccinardi
Co-founder and CFO
Graduate in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II and holder of an MBA from the School of Business Administration (SAA), University of Turin. He has led multiple R&D programmes in aerospace and environmental technology, including projects within the ESA SciSpace programme. He currently serves as sole director of the innovative start-up Oxhy srl and holds board positions in several technology and engineering companies.
